Kongsdal Bådelaug turned to itpilot to have their website upgraded from Joomla 3 to Joomla 4. This upgrade is what is also called a migration, as there is no option to directly update from version 3.

Focus on website security

For Kongsdal Bådelaug, it was important to have their website upgraded to Joomla 4 - especially for security reasons. Kongsdal Bådelaug has a membership system which sends data to the website. Only members who are logged in should have access to this data, and therefore an upgrade to Joomla 4 was also necessary to maintain a high security.

In addition to the security aspect, Kongsdal Bådelaug has also gained a number of other advantages and opportunities after the upgrade to Joomla 4. Joomla 4 has better performance and loading speed as well as an improved administration panel.

Future-proofing the website

The upgrade to Joomla 4 is the first step towards a more future-proof Joomla website. Joomla 4 requires newer technologies than the previous version – for example, Joomla 4 requires you to use PHP 7 (or newer), whereas Joomla 3 only requires a minimum of PHP 5.3. In addition, Joomla 4 has a Bootstrap 4 integration, which, among other things, provides better options in terms of responsiveness and mobile friendliness compared to Joomla 3's Bootstrap 2.

The upgrade to Joomla 4 took place in our secure development environment, where plugins and templates were updated or replaced so that all website elements, functions and calls are compatible with the new technologies on which Joomla 4 is built.
